Butterfly pillow: Does it really work?
There are some animal lovers who go to the extreme of decorating rooms in their home with themed furniture and accessories featuring their favorite animals. While for some that may be a little extreme, others find it the best way to pay tribute to their favorite animals and may use things like a butterfly pillow as part of the decor. However, if you happen to see a pillow in the shape of a true butterfly in a living space, chances are that won’t be because the person using it loves butterflies!
Butterfly pillows are actually hourglass shaped pillows specifically designed that way to provide head and back support for people when sleeping. It is thought that pillows shaped like a butterfly will help to support the neck and head so you do not end up sleeping in an unnatural position. You end up aligning your body properly so you can have a comfortable night’s sleep.
In some cases, manufacturers claim that a butterfly pillow can help to ease muscle and nerve tension as well as relieve a stiff neck, back pains and annoying shoulder pains. While there are other methods and treatments for such pains, many people believe in the ability of butterfly shaped pillows to ease the pain and discomfort. Often times also, sleeping on these pillows ends up being a much cheaper treatment that physiotherapy or other treatment.
People who are side sleepers generally benefit well from using a butterfly pillow because of the indentation in the shape closer to the bottom of the pillow. People have tried so many different ways to make sleeping comfortable, and now many are convinced of the effectiveness of the butterfly pillow to allow them to have a comfortable night’s rest.
If you are experiencing any discomfort in the head, shoulders or neck when sleeping, give a butterfly pillow a try as part of your treatment.
