One bit of advice for homeowners or designers on the hunt for decorative accent pillows is to shop freely without worrying too much about whether or not the pillows you buy will match or clash!  With accent pillows, it is very common for designers to put opposing prints and colors together on a sofa to create an element of interest.  People have quite readily accepted how different prints and fabrics come together to make a space look stylish, so shop with as much independent creativity as you need!

Keep in mind that some of these pillows come with covers and others do not.  My biggest pet peeve with some accent pillows is that they can’t be washed or the ones that can, start to look dull over time. The catch 22 is that the best designs I have found, generally do not come with covers. This is something you may want to carefully consider before your purchase.

While the aesthetic appeal of these pillows is usually their biggest selling point, also keep in mind that you may want to use these pillows as a functional accessory as well. Therefore, if you will be using these pillows for head and neck support, you will also have to take the type of fabric into consideration. I can tell you from experience that not all accent pillows are comfortable, so choose wisely!

Pillows are perhaps the easiest accessories to work with when you want to create a certain atmosphere and style in a room.
